NERVOUS: FAHM CELEBRATION WITH ANGELA GARBES, ROGUE PINAY, & SENDAI ERA AT THE WING LUKE MUSEUM

I am so excited for this book celebration to launch Filipino American History Month with some badass Filipinx people at the Wing Luke Museum !

PNW people, hope you’ll join us for a very special in-person celebration in Seattle’s historic Chinatown/International District. I’ll be in conversation with one of my sheroes, the inimitable Angela Garbes, celebrated author of Like a Mother and Essential Labor.

The afternoon will open with music from beloved Filipinx local artists Sendai Era, and rogue pinay, and The Wing’s wonderful Executive Director, Joël Tan, will host.

Bring the whole family and make a day of it in the CID! Parking is free on Sundays and we made sure there are no Seahawks games or other events at Lumen field that afternoon. And we’ll have a play area for kids and accessible seating for elders.

Special thanks to Vivian Chan, Director of Community Programs at the Wing Luke, for her work on this.

For every book bought at this event I’ll donate to both the Wing and APIChaya.

Capacity is limited so RSVP here!

At the bottom are photos of rogue pinay and Sendai Era. rogue pinay is standing in front of a colorful backdrop as she looks to the side. She is wearing a blue ballcap over her curly black hair, and a cream-colored jacket over a red and blue jacket. The cover of NERVOUS is in the bottom right. In the photo of Sendai Era, the two members are standing next to each other in front of a railing, a city backdrop behind them. The member on the left is wearing a gray beanie and a dark gray sweater, and squinting at the camera while smiling gently. The member on the right is wearing a gray ballcap.
